Extruded acrylic rod is more cost-efficient than cast acrylic rod and used in POP displays, exhibits, aquariums, and various arts and crafts applications. Extruded acrylic rod stands up well to outdoor exposure without showing wear. Many of the acrylic shapes are designed into POP retail displays and shoe risers/shelves for slat-wall applications. It meets FDA standards and is UV stabilized. It has a forming temp of 350° F and a max continuous temp of 180°F.
Keep in mind that extruded acrylic rods do not have the optical clarity or machining characteristics of cast acrylic rod. In larger diameter rods (.875″ diameter and above) these high-quality extruded rods are commonly used for grab bars in showers, tubs, and spas. Acrylic extrusions are easily sawed, drilled, milled, engraved and finished.
In addition to sheet products, acrylic can be extruded or cast into a variety of plastic shapes, known as profiles. These include round acrylic rod, tube, z-bar, w-bar, hinge profiles, cabochons, sphears, squares, triangular rods, and many others.
