With its versatile performance capabilities and proven use in a broad range of applications, Torlon® PAI shapes are offered in extruded, injection molded, and compression molded grades.
Torlon® PAI is the highest performing, melt processable plastic. It has superior resistance to elevated temperatures. It is capable of performing under severe stress conditions at continuous temperatures to 500°F (260°C). Parts machined from Torlon® PAI stock shapes provide greater compressive strength and higher impact resistance than most advanced engineering plastics.

Torlon® PAI’s extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance deliver excellent dimensional stability over its entire service range.Torlon® PAI is an amorphous material with a Tg (glass transition temperature) of 537°F (280°C). Torlon® PAI stock shapes are post-cured. This eliminates the need for additional curing by the end user in most situations. A post-curing cycle is sometimes recommended for components fabricated from extruded shapes where optimization of chemical resistance and/or wear performance is required.

For large shapes or custom geometries like tubular bar, compression molded Torlon® PAI shapes offer designers the greatest economy and flexibility. Another benefit of selecting a compression molded grade is that resins are cured, or “imidized” prior to molding which eliminates the need to post-cure shapes or parts fabricated from compression molded shapes.

Popular extrusion and injection molding grades of Torlon® PAI are offered as compression molded shapes. Typically, you can identify a compression molded grade as having a second digit of “5” in the product name.

Emco Industrial Plastics, Inc is a leading supplier of Torlon material. Torlon is credited for being one of the leading materials of thermoplastics in the United States.

Because Emco is not only a supplier but also a custom fabricator, Torlon material can be custom made and molded into many figures and forms. All Torlon plastics are housed in Emco’s 50,000 square foot warehouse with a state of the art fabricating facility. The advantage to working with Torlon plastic is that it is able to be molded and formed into many shapes and injection molded. The equipment, machinery and engineers are dedicated to accommodate hard to machine dimensions and geometries. Everything is under one roof so that your items get to you quickly and cost efficiently. Offering a multitude of sizes, colors, dimensions and options, there is virtually nothing that cannot be machined and produced for you.

The following Torlon Plastics are available:

Torlon 4203 Rods and Torlon 4203 Sheets:
Torlon polyamide-imide is of extraordinary strength and is of the maximum elongation of the Torlon® grades. Providing electrical insulation and impeccable contact strength, Torlon 4203 is commonly used for IC Test Sockets/ Handlers and electrical connectors/insulators. The incredible power to transfer high loads over a multitude of temperature ranges makes it the top choice for components such as linkages or seal rings. Torlon® 4203 can also be utilized for wear applications linking impact loading and harsh wear. Torlon 4203 is BROWN in color.

Torlon 4301 Sheets, Torlon Rods and Torlon Tubes:
Torlon 4301 has a unique way of enduring harsh elements including chemical exposure and stress. Because Torlon 4301 is very versatile in nature, it is utilized in a wide array of applications. Torlon 4301 sheets, rods and tubes have proven to be fatigue resistant and dimensionally stable when exposed to a wide variety of temperatures. Torlon 4301 has established itself as being a very reliable choice for many applications. Torlon 4301 is Dark Greenish-Black in color.

Torlon 5030 Plates and Torlon Balls:
Torlon ® 5030 polyamide-imide, which comprises of 30% glass reinforcement, is traditionally inject molded but has the capabilities to be compression molded and even formed into different basic shapes. Emco has the engineering capability of extruding shapes as well as injection and compression molding. The most cost effective method of utilizing Torlon 5030 is by injection molding. Although this method provides the least performance, it can be injection molded for smaller parts/shapes or those that demand a higher level of dimensional control. Please refer to our sales staff for any questions related to sketches or drawings for products needing to be injection molded.
Torlon® 5030 balls come in a wide variety of sizes ranging from 1/8″ up to 2″ diameter. These balls benefit lower load applications and bearings that are not lubricated. There are common uses for Torlon 5030 balls but thousands of uses are possible and can be applied because of their toughness and wear.

Torlon 5530 Plates
Torlon 5530 is a 30% glass-filled polyamide-imide. Because the molding process (compression molding) randomly disperses the glass fibers, this creates an outstanding multi dimensional stability. When injection molding takes place, it creates a unidirectional glass fibre stream which is not as stable. When compression application is performed, Torlon 5530 is not only strong and stable but electrically insulates with a top rated resistance to radiation. Emco has the ability and engineering capability to manufacture all of your Torlon 5530 requests. Torlon 5530 is black in color. Everything plastics, all under one roof makes Emco the best possible choice to service all of your needs. Torlon 5530 is Black in Color.

Torlon 7130:
TORLON® 7130 is 30% Carbon Fiber Reinforced polyamide-imide. Because Torlon 7130 is carbon filled, it is the stiffest in its class with the lowest coefficient of thermal expansions (when measured against other plastics). The combination of carbon fiber and Torlon makes the 7130 line highly conductive both electrically and thermally as well as incredible strong and wear resistant. Torlon 7130 is ideal for so many applications such as wear strips, landing gear, dowel pin guides and much more
