PVDF, also known as Kynar®, is a highly non-reactive and pure thermoplastic fluoropolymer. It is generally used in applications requiring the highest purity, strength, and resistance to solvents, acids, bases and heat and low smoke generation during a fire event.
Kynar® PVDF maintains its useful mechanical and chemical resistance properties at temperatures up to 150°C (300°F). An additional advantage is that PVDF can be welded into tanks for acid and corrosive chemical processing in elevated temperature environments. Where load bearing is important, this PVDF fluoropolymer is rigid and resistant to creep under mechanical stress and load. PVDF is stable to sunlight, and other sources of ultraviolet radiation. In thin sections, such as films, filament, and tubing, PVDF components are flexible and transparent.
In addition to sheet goods, Kynar® PVDF is also available as piping products, tubing, films, plate, and an insulator for premium wire.
