Polyimides (PI) are some of the most heat and fire resistant polymers. Their strength, heat, and chemical resistance are so great that these materials often replace glass and metals, such as steel, in many demanding industrial applications. Formulated as both thermosets and thermoplastics, polyimides are very to machine, are highly insulative, and do not contaminate its surroundings (does not outgas). Polyimides are available as laminates and shapes, molded parts, stock shapes, film, and adhesives

A large number of formulations, i.e., glass-filled and lubricant filled and variants within these grades such as FDA compliant, heat stabilized, high purity, and low outgassing are available to match specific application demands. Contact an Emco Industrial Plastics representative who can help you choose the correct material for your application.
