Nylon is one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics. It offers an excellent combination of mechanical performance, toughness, low coefficient of friction, good abrasion resistance and is cost-effective. Nylon is most commonly used as bearings, rollers, food processing machining components, gears, seals and gaskets, and wear pads. It also provides weight and noise reduction, corrosion resistance, and easy machining. Nylon can also be used to replace bronze, brass, steel, and aluminum as well as wood and rubber in engineering applications.

Cast Nylon exhibits all the properties which generally make nylon a superior engineering material: high strength, low friction and wear resistance. However, because of the casting process, part size and thickness are almost unlimited without degradation of the materials internal structure. Cast Nylon meets FDA standards.
Cast Nylon Type 6Nylon is frequently used to replace metal bearings and bushings, often eliminating the need for external lubrication. Other benefits include a reduction in part weight, less operating noise, and decreased wear on mating parts. Interested in learning more about Emco's machining capabilities? Nylon Machining & FabricationNylon HS Blue is heat stabilized cast nylon 6, which is easily distinguished by its distinctive blue color. It is manufactured with additives in the form of high temperature resistant colorants, U.V. stabilizers, and heat stabilizers which allow HS Blue to retain its properties in applications operating at elevated temperatures. This reduces stress distortion that can be caused by machining.
Nylon HS BlueNylon, the first successful thermoplastic and engineering resin, boasts a number of characteristics that have led to its great popularity in both commercial and industrial applications.

Nylon SheetExtruded Nylon offers good mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness and wear resistance. These properties, together with good electrical insulating ability and good chemical resistance makes extruded nylon a good general purpose grade for mechanical construction and maintenance.
Extruded NylonThis polyamide 6 grade, containing a metal detectable additive, has been specifically tailored for use in the food processing and packaging industries where it can easily be traced by the conventional metal detection systems installed to detect contamination of the foodstuffs.
