Mirror products are made by taking standard plastic sheet and mirrorizing the material, or by making it reflective. Plastic mirror can be made from acrylic, polycarbonate, or PETG.
Acrylic (Polymethyl-Methacrylate or PMMA) is an amorphous thermoplastic which is optically transparent, unaffected by moisture, and offers a high strength-to-weight ratio. Common trade names of acrylic include Plexiglas®, Lucite®, and Acrylite®.
Mirrorized acrylic, available both extruded and cast, exhibits the highest strength and stiffness than PETG and polycarbonate. Clear mirror is standard non-tinted mirror, although it comes in just about any color and texture. It may be cut into intricate shapes, drilled, sanded, polished, machined, cold formed for curved shapes or strip heated for a sharp bend. Acrylic mirror is highly reflective, available in reduced glare or scratch resistant. All sheets are protected on the front surface with clear film or paper masking. Additional backings include gatorback and pressure sensitive masking.
