Copolymer and homopolymer acetals have slightly different molecular structures resulting in slightly different physical properties. For example, homopolymer acetal has slightly higher strength properties but exhibits centerline porosity.
Delrin® acetal resin survived 100 15-minute cycles of 121 degrees C (250° F) in an autoclave. However, additional cycles could result in surface chalking and hydrolysis.
Delrin® 100 AF Blend contains 13% PTFE fibers. HPV-13® contains 13% PTFE powder. Both are brown in color and are considered to be bearing grades of homopolymer acetal.
Delrin® 100 and 500 are injection molding grades but can be extruded in smaller diameter rod (up to around 2″ diameter) and thinner plate (up to about 2″ thick). Delrin® 150 and 550 are the extrusion grades of Delrin® 100 and 500, respectively.
ASTM designation POM211 refers to Acetal copolymer. The B45350 after the POM211 refers to physical properties listed in table B in ASTM D 4181 and ASTM D 6100 for acetal copolymer.
