Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), more commonly known as Polyester, is a durable, tough thermoplastic with good chemical, high energy radiation, weather, wear and abrasion resistance.
PET-P material under the tradename of Ertalyte® is produced by proprietary resin grades made by Quadrant. Ertalyte® TX, an internally lubricated version of PET-P, provides a lower wear rate and coefficient of friction than unmodified PET or PBT, and enhanced wear and inertness over general purpose nylons (PA) or acetals (POM), Ertalyte® TX is an excellent replacement choice for internally lubricated materials such as Delrin® AF.
The combination of PET properties and internal lubrication make it ideal for machining high-wear-resistant parts that require no startup or running lubrication. Ertalyte® TX’s excellent performance in both high-pressure and high-velocity conditions makes it completely suitable for applications involving soft metal and plastic mating surfaces.
